If you are a Festival performer and want to book a slot at the Holyrood Too @ Faith for 2008, please read the information below. GENERAL INFORMATION Venue 38, 207 Cowgate, Edinburgh EH1 1JD The venue is in a night club converted from an old church hall. Seats up to 50 and has a small stage area, basic lights and a PA. The Venue is especially suited to comedy shows, but we have also had plays, sketch shows, cabaret, poetry, music and films all presented as part of the Fringe. We can only accommodate small companies so please be aware of the stage specifications. LOCATION Faith is in Cowgate across from Blair Street, right in the hub of the venues of the Underbelly and the caves just down from the Royal Mile - quite a good spot! FEES The fee is £430 per week* for a daily one hour slot. You receive 94% of all box office takings (6% is charged for admin costs). The fee includes hire of venue, use of lights and sound equipment, technical operator, rehearsal time, ticket sales and front of house services, display space, free webpage on Rare Birds site, and lots of advice if you need it! Not included are the Fringe Office fees for the programme, promotional costs, accommodation and so on, these are separate from the hire fee. We do send out a Venue Info Pack to the main press in July, but the major responsibility for promoting individual shows lies with each production company.
APPLICATIONS Can be made by email, providing a brief description of your show and the people involved. Please send applications between January and end of February. All shows must be a maximum of 50 minutes, with minimal set/props to allow for fast turnaround between shows. If you are offered a slot and wish to go ahead, a contract is sent for you to sign and return with a deposit. This must be done by latest end of March in order to meet the Fringe Programme deadline. The remaining payments are spread over the following months if necessary to help with your budgeting, otherwise you can pay in one go. All payments must be completed before the Festival starts. We pay your box office takings as soon as we can after the show finishes, or by the latest 17 September.
As a small venue we try to make your experience at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as pleasurable and personal as possible. We have had a great many companies/shows who have had their first Festival experience with us and gone on to grander things! We also have had our fair share of experienced professionals who want a small but sell-out venue. In 2004 we had the Perrier Comedy Award Winner in the Best Newcomer category Will Hodgson, he returned to the venue in 2005/06 with sell-out shows. In 2005 we had the last Perrier Comedy Award Winner (main category) Laura Salon and another show was nominated for the Malcolm Hardee Oy Oy Award. The last two years (2006/7) we have had our most successful in terms of shows, ticket sales and loads of four star reviews. Please contact us with any questions you have about the venue.
